THE LSTA Specialist Applied-Skills Courses

Specialist Applied-skills Programmes (SAP) in Lead or Hard Metal

The LSTA has been delivering SAP courses for CITB since 2009. Since then 188 students have been registered for the programme. There is a very high level of achievement users rate the courses highly.

We are appointed by CITB as a provider of this course across England, Scotland and Wales. Our contract with CITB provides for up to 24 places a year on these programme. Grant funding is available to meet most of the course fees, this includes the new travel to train funding which covers 80% of accommodation, travel and food see the following link http://travel to train-apprenticeship travel and accommodation grant.

SAPs are available at both Level 2 and Level 3 in either Hard or Soft Metals (not combined). The initial course is at Level 2:

Outcome: NOCN Level 2 NVQ Hard & Soft Metals Roofing Operatives & City & Guilds Accreditation in Traditional Intermediate Hard & Soft Metal Craft

Duration: 18 months – Off job modules spread over 12 months, followed by 6 months portfolio build and assessment

After successful completion of the Level 2 course, candidates can progress to the Level 3 course which focuses on heritage skills for working on historic and listed buildings.

These options are designed for experienced workers without formal qualifications who want to obtain recognition of their skills by obtaining an NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification without the need to spend significant time on off-site training. | More >
