Purpose

This course is aimed at operators who will work with cut off saws as part of their job role across the construction industry.

Introduction

SiteRight (Part of the NOCN Group) have worked with Stihl GB and Skanska to develop this assured course to promote the safe use of cut off saws in the construction industry.

The outline, structure and content of this course is assured by NOCN Group, the content is recommended by Stihl UK and Construction Training Services. The Lead Sheet Training Academy Trainer has completed the Stihl GB / COS-training Train the Trainer course, which is for cut off saw operators in the construction, engineering or manufacturing industries.

The basic course will cover all aspects of how to use a cut off saw safely and will include everything from selecting and fitting appropriate personal protective equipment, selecting and fitting appropriate cutting wheels, operating and refuelling the machine through to safe transportation.

Successful completion of this course will enable operators to use a cut off saw safely.

The core element of the training is a ½ day course and CITB funding is available. Additional modules are available and are listed below. The additional modules are designed to be delivered in sequence, each building on previous knowledge.

Course Delivery

The training is a blend of theoretical and practical, hands-on study. The theoretical elements are supplemented by a course video.

Delegates’ knowledge is assessed at the beginning of the course through an initial assessment paper and is formally tested at the end of the basic course through a practical observation and a multiple-choice examination paper.

Equipment Required for the course

You are encouraged to bring your own Personal Protective Equipment, which is listed below, however if you do not have any of the below, we have our own PPE that can be used.

  • Safety Eyewear (Class EN116-B)
  • Safety Footwear (Steel toe Cap)
  • Dust Masks (FFP3)
  • Ear Defenders (sufficient to reduce the noise below 85dBs)
  • Gloves
Course Cost

The cost of the training is £140.00 per delegate. For delegates who are CITB registered or pay the CITB levy you will be eligible to claim back a grant of £30.00 on successful completion of the course.
