This course allows experienced Leadworkers to extend their skills to cover more complicated roof shapes and casting methods required for the maintenance of the nation’s historic and listed, buildings.
The training sessions include covering spires and cupolas using hollow wood cored rolls and welted joints. Candidates will also carry out flat and hollow lead castings to make patterns and fabricate components to produce rainwater/hopper heads.
This course has replaced the City & Guilds 6055 Leadworker’s Certificate Module 5. The course curriculum and learning outcomes are identical to the 6055 course.
As candidates progress through the course each element is checked to ensure quality and conformity to specification and best practice.
Formal assessment is by both practical exercises and written questions/case studies. All work is assessed and marked against the criteria provided on the task sheets.
